VISION TESTING

ContrastSensitivity.net advocates eye testing based on an understanding of vision science and modeling. Understanding the visual model of how we see provides the basis for making decisions about testing, including what tests to perform and how to perform them.

Many standard vision testing tools being used today, such as the familiar 20/20 letter chart, only test a limited range of our visual capabilities. Years of scientific research and clinical testing, however, have proven that 20/20 visual acuity testing alone is not enough. The full range of our visual function must be examined and tested in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of our visual health.

This section examines the different types of acuity, contrast and functional vision tests available today, and analyzes the pros and cons of the various testing methods.
