FUNCTIONAL VISION TEST BATTERY (FVTB)

If a patient suffers vision loss or experiences frustrating visual symptoms following an eye injury or eye surgery, it is difficult proving and communicating the vision problems he/she is experiencing. VSRC offers a unique series of functional vision tests that can help. The VSRC Functional Vision Test Battery (FVTB) utilizes the following methods and technology:

:: Functional Acuity Contrast Test (FACT) Chart: An accurate and comprehensive sine-wave grating chart that tests functional visual acuity. Scores obtained from the FACT Chart are graphed to show the functional vision consequences of the contrast sensitivity curve. These scores are also used to generate an image demonstrating how a typical daytime scene looks with such contrast sensitivity levels.

:: Night Driving Simulator System: An intensive test battery developed under FDA protocol guidelines, assessing one's ability to detect and identify targets in various visibility conditions, such as fog (decreased visibility) and glare (simulates oncoming headlights or lights reflected in rearview mirrors), in both a rural and a city nighttime setting.

:: Vision Representation: Our computer simulation experts will actually create pictures of how an individual sees in order that others may better understand their symptoms, such as halos, starbursts or double vision.

:: Ishihara Color Vision Testing: A color vision test.

:: Stereopsis Testing: A depth perception test, which provides information about how the eyes work together as a team.

:: ETDRS Acuity Letter Chart: Another measure of visual acuity.

:: Complete Analysis: A comprehensive report is produced detailing the patient's functional vision capabilities.
